The History of Cornerstone Furniture


The Cornerstone story is much like the kind your grandfather once told you. And like those tales, it begins in a small town called Middleville, Michigan. We’re only about 30 years old, but lets put it this way - we were a lean startup before anyone called it that. Founded in 1993 by Quentin Mulder, the plan was to simply build a few quality conference tables per year and make a living. Our first priorities were to deliver on our word and build products that surpassed our customers’ expectations.

As time went on, we grew in size and expertise. As we earned the confidence of our customers, word began to spread. Cornerstone Furniture became a well-respected name and the foundation we laid back then has held strong. We’ve remained viable and sharp by offering a fully customizable product, and by listening to the needs of our customers.

The term “cornerstone” comes from masonry. It refers to the first stone laid, which acts as a reference point for all other stones that are later added. The cornerstone determines the position of the entire structure, so essentially - it’s a promise. That’s why Cornerstone Furniture is just as committed to quality and integrity as it was on day one.
